Signposts are the words you read on Awakenpedia – pointers to the Truth.

Signposts indicate which way the Truth is and thus serve as the needle of the Spiritual Compass that points you in its direction. The Signpost that points to the Truth is often confused for the Truth itself, which is a common error on the Awakening Journey. The Signpost that points to the Truth is not the Truth just as the finger that points to the Moon is not the Moon itself.

Treat Signposts as nothing more than directional guides and then let them go to continue on the Journey to the Truth. The Signpost points to that which must be Realized within you, and if no Realization occurs, which is to say no Shift in Consciousness takes place, then you are still at the signpost – you remain on the Level of Mind.

Every piece of Spiritual Advice you read, watch, listen to, or otherwise consume is nothing more than a Signpost that points to the Truth, which cannot be conceptualized most simply because it is beyond conceptualization. It cannot be accurately described because it is beyond description. It cannot be truly defined because it is beyond definition.

The best a Spiritual Teacher can do is to be the Teaching so Purely that it resonates with your Being so deeply that it catalyzes your Realization of it. In this context, the Spiritual Teacher is the Signpost.

As this point is so important for earnest travelers, it must be remembered that everything you Perceive is only a Signpost that points to the Truth that lies beyond Perception. You cannot learn, acquire, analyze, or understand the Truth – it can only be Realized, which happens not on the Level of Mind but on the Level of Being.
