~ Conformity

Essential Point:

The Conformed State is the Dysfunctional State of the Sheep, in which you wear Interchangeable Ego Masks to cover up your Underlying Confusion of Identity.

Overview:

Conformity occurs when you are unsure of who you really are, and as a result, you do what the herd does. In this sense, the Conformed state points to the Unconscious state of the Sheep, while the Nonconformed state points to the Conscious state of the Shepherd.

For those who reside in the Mind-Identified, Conformed state of the Sheep, Life tends to be frustrating, disappointing, confusing, and full of dissonance and conflict. The Mind is heavy in this state and there is no True Peace as you are Lost, and of course you don’t know you are Lost for as soon as you start to become Aware that you’re Lost you stop being completely Lost.

Thus, in the Conformed State, you are Ignorant, and while “Ignorance may be Bliss” for some time, you are still Ignorant and Bliss does not last long and certainly not forever as the Dream of “Your Life” will ultimately turn into a Nightmare through the Disillusionment from Identifying with erroneous Beliefs that must collapse in time.

To this point, even when you are experiencing what the World would call “Success,” it will not last long before the Ego is left wanting more, needing more, and through it all there will be a deep underlying unease that you cannot quite put a finger on but you can recognize as generalized discontent and confusion as to why you are Doing what you are doing, who you really are, and what is really going on in this World – there will be no Real Meaning to Life.

The Sheep State of Conformity is paradoxically necessary to Realizing the Nonconformed Shephard State in that Unconsciousness is paradoxically necessary to Realize Consciousness – there would be no Enlightenment if there wasn’t any Illusion, after all. If you can Realize it, the Suffering you experience in the Conformed State is, in Truth, the Inner-Voice of the Divine itself guiding you to correct your course – you must only Hear it, and you Hear it by quieting the Voice in the Head.

This Inner-Voice will ultimately need to be listened to and heeded if you are to progress on the Awakening Journey. If the seedlings of Awakening are already beginning to sprout, remaining in the Conformed state of the Sheep will only yield greater suffering. As long as you stay in the Illusionary “Comfort Zone” of the Conformed State, you will remain subjected to inevitable Suffering and Dissonance of a Split Consciousness.

The way out of Conformity and into Authenticity is through Courage. At some point on the Journey, the ability to Hear and urge to Listen to the Inner-Voice will have to be greater than the Perceived Safety of the Comfort Zone in the Conformed Sheep State. Put another way, the Suffering that accompanies dismissing the Truth for Illusory Comfort will become so intolerable that you will need summon the Courage to Surrender to the Dark to step into the Unknown to discover the Light. As this is no easy or comfortable feat, it is at this point in the Awakening Journey that many sadly decide to commit Suicide out of the severity of this despair.

Through Awakening, however, you rise out of Conformity into Authenticity and then ultimately into Integrity, in which there is complete coherence between the Spiritual, Mental and Physical Dimensions of Existence. The Conformed state is the Sleeping, Unconscious state in which the Monkey Mind of the Ego is in Control – and as the saying goes, “Monkey see, Monkey do.” Again, you are the Sheep, and Sheep follow.

Begin to Wake up by summoning the Courage to look beyond the arbitrary Status Quo of the Mind-made World and let yourself open your eyes to what is True. Don’t ignore the Dissonance and lean into the Inner-Voice that is Calling you to your destiny to rise out of Conformity.
